To become a Master Professional takes time, dedication, and commitment. The WNYPGA would like to recognize its three Master Professionals.
Ric Alberico, PGA – Master Professional of Instruction
Elected to PGA Membership in 1977, Ric has represented District IV at the National level, served on the WNYPGA Board of Directors, chaired both PGA National committees and Section committees, worked as a PGA and USGA Certified Rules Official, and was inducted into the WNYPGA Hall of Fame.
Ric’s service and dedication has been recognized through:
- WNYPGA Professional of the Year – 1984
- WNYPGA Professional Development Award – 1986, 1987, 1995
- WNYPGA Bill Strausbaugh Award – 2002, 2003
- Golf Industry Magazine named Golf Professional of the Year – 1991
Jim Mrva, PGA – Master Professional of Golf Operations
Elected to PGA Membership in 1978, Jim has been an active member both in the golf space and in the community as he served on the WNYPGA Board of Directors, chaired numerous Section committees, been awarded with multiple National and Section awards, won various Section tournaments, and inducted into the WNYPGA Hall of Fame.

- WNY Open Champion – 1992

Steve Carney, PGA – Master Professional of Instruction
Elected to PGA Membership in 1979, Steve currently sits on the WNYPGA Board of Directors and chairs the Education committee which is committed to providing new and intriguing educational programs to further Member’s knowledge.
Steve’s most prestigious accolades include:
