The WNYPGA Section staff welcomes everyone to the 2024 season! Here’s what to know moving forward:
- The new Pitch & Putt practice area at Genesee Valley Golf Course will open! The 14,000 sq ft practice area is designated as a space where beginners of any age can practice golf on a completely synthetic turf course. This area is a necessary step forward in providing the community access to the game everyone loves while ensuring golfers of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities have a place to play moving forward. The practice area makes golf accessible to underserved areas and encourages people to pick up the sport as a lifelong hobby. The Section looks forward to hosting specialized programs for Veterans and youth at the facility.
- PGA HOPE WNY is increasing in size! 2023 saw record numbers for HOPE sessions and participants. In an effort to help positively impact more Veterans, the Section is looking to expand the number of locations therefore increasing the number of Veterans they are able to impact. Thank you to all the Professionals who have become certified in HOPE Adaptive Training as we would not be able to serve our local Veterans without you.
- The Section will be hosting their first ever Play Yellow Birdie Bash! Professionals will collect pledging donors, play 72 holes, and raise money by making as many birdies as possible. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester and PGA REACH WNY.
- Our Director of Development & Foundation Operations, John Osberg, continues to bring new partners to the Section and Foundation. During his first four months, Osberg has been able to bring on three new Section partners. These partnerships benefit the Section and its Members by providing value added, complementary products and services that enhance the experience of our Section.
