We are honored to celebrate Lou Strong in May during our Centennial Year!
In 1961, Lou Strong became both Head Pro at Oak Hill CC and President of the PGA of America—a rare dual honor in golf.
That same year, the PGA removed its “Caucasian clause,” opening membership to all races—a historic milestone during Strong’s leadership.
He later helped move the PGA to Florida and led the new PGA National GC (now BallenIsles).
Lou Strong passed in 1981, leaving a lasting legacy of leadership and progress.
